Here is a project I’ve been meaning to get around to for a while. Building a wood crate for my disc golf disc collection.
I enjoy disc golf and have amassed quite a collection of discs. I’ve been keeping nearly my entire collection of discs in a cardboard box in the back of my car. My collection has grown too big and the box is falling apart.
About a week ago, I noticed that some of my discs were becoming warped, twisted, and bent. Being stored in the back of the car in the deep south will do that. Especially in a broken down cardboard box.
Now, I am taking action and building this simple wood crate to store my discs.
Here is the preliminary Sketchup design:
I didn’t take any pictures of the build because I really just wanted to get this done. My 6-year old son was helping me with it and I was enjoying his help.
Here it is finished. Really simple construction, boards, screws, etc., nothing fancy. I don’t know what I was thinking, though. For some reason I measured the inside too wide. Oh well, it works!
Update:
I have revised the plans to actually fit the discs and have also included a cut list.
You can download the SketchUp file here.
Let me know what you think!
