Custom Indoor Rabbit Hutch

I love my wife.  She has such a loving and nurturing nature that it comes as no surprise when she texts me that the breeder, who we got our Jersey Wooly rabbit from, has a buck she would like to send to a good home.  Not for free of course…  And knowing me, and how much I love and understand my wife, I acquiesce and tell her to go ahead and bring him home.  Ok, let me back up a bit.  My wife had taken our Jersey Wooly, Lapis, to the breeder to be bred and Lapis would have nothing to do with any of the bucks the breeder had.  So, now we have our own buck to breed with Lapis once she gets used to the idea of having another rabbit in the house.

Ok, so, now that we have a new rabbit, he needs his own hutch.  That’s where I come in… I ended up working on this rabbit hutch over the Thanksgiving weekend.  Since I only had a weekend, I had to come up with something more simple than my first rabbit hutch.

This is what I came up with:

A happy little bunny cage

Before I started, I had to come up with some detailed plans:

Awesome!  Planning done! And after much cursing, sweating, cutting, cursing, gnat swatting, drilling, screwing (heheh), measuring (probably should have done that first), re-cutting, gnat swatting, re-drilling, re-screwing (chuckle), sanding, and painting, I was done!

New tools, too!

And to complete this project, my wonderful wife got me a new Ridgid 18-Gauge 1-1/2 in. Finish Stapler from Home Depot.  I have to say, this thing is awesome!  I really don’t know how I have gotten along without it.  Oh yeah, I remember, much cussing and frustration with regular manual staplers.  This thing gets great reviews and shoots staples like a champ.  I plan on getting a lot of use out of it.

If you are interested in one of these custom rabbit hutches for yourself, or your rabbit, please contact me and we can work out the details!

Moral of the story – if you want new tools let your wife buy a rabbit (or whatever she wants).
